Given this is a Cleveland County model, and the registration is a Middlesbrough Reg (OXG230M) it wouldnt have been based at Durham. In 1974 the year this car is dated. Cleveland and Durham were two seperate forces.

I really don't know it, the information was given to me by someone.

Hi Louis, If you Google 'Cleveland County' you will find several references for the History of this part of North East England. Unfortunately I dont have any full records of the allocations for Cleveland Police cars, however, I remember these Triumph 2000's being based at Billingham which was my local Police Station (not far from where I lived). Cleveland also operated the Rover 2000 P6 at around the same time, so perhaps Vanguards will provide us with one.

The car you're discussing is a Triumph 2.5pi. The call sign of the vehicle OXG230M BF2 (Bravo Foxtrot 2). This car was stationed at Eston office (the old Eston police station - not the current one). The model is slightly inaccurate - it shows the roof spots as being blue, however they were white spot lights - adjustable by handles that came through the roof - one handle on the driver's side, the other on the passenger side.

Teesside Police used the Triumph 2000 and 2.5pi, which had the 'jam sandwich', red stripe, livery.

The chequered livery arrived with Cleveland Constabulary - and amalgamation of Teesside Police, Hartlepool (from Durham), and Guisborough, Saltburn, East Cleveland and Yarm from the York and North East Yorkshire Police.
