Alternative Foden Tanker

Here's one that Dinky could have done - a very bright and colourful National Benzole liveried tanker. Whilst looking for a reproduction box for one of my other restorations, I came across this "phantom" box, liked the look of it and bought it. I then found a battered Foden cab/chassis on Ebay, which I repaired and matched up to a Kingfisher reproduction tank. The transfers were made for me by a friend of a friend, based on a photo I supplied, and were applied over the freshly painted model.
Built and photographed in December 2013.

Now this is something rather special I think.
I always found the National Benzole products to be attractive.

Hi Bob, I have to agree about the Benzole livery - there were lots of very attractive tanker schemes around in the 1950's, and this was up there amongst the finest.

Ooohh I like that, I think I had an ESSO ???? one many many years ago. Kevin The whole setup, looks original great job; I did some fire engines and military Dinkies some years ago, my favourites were the Bedford turntable ladder and the Leyland Hippo RAF refueller. They are safely wrapped and stored in the loft, must get them all down one day.

Hi Ted, you may well have had a Dinky Esso tanker, but that was on a Leyland chassis - the other liveried Foden was the red Mobilgas variety. Get those old Dinkies down from the loft and enjoy them - the Leyland RAF pressure refueller is quite rare nowadays!

On the National Benzole theme, many, many years ago I wanted a National Benzole toy petrol pump, a shop I knew had one in their window, every time I went in and asked to buy it I was told it was not for sale, i don't think I ever got one.
