East Germany-(GDR) 1970's.

This diarama shows a typical line-up of East German fire appliances in front of their old Pre-war period fire station with the appliances being typically from the late 1970's period and some years before the Berlin Wall finally came down which divided East from West Germany.
The 6 bay two-storey fire station is built to HO scale and is totally scratch built using plasti-card with some plastic parts.
The fire engine models in HO scale are from a large range of firefighting vehicle and are produced by a company called S.E.S.Modellautos of Berlin, Germany, and are typical of the types produced in East Germany, such as IFA,Opel,LKW and Barkas from the period.
These are the only S.E.S.models I have which I was able to purchased from our friend Bristol Bob some time ago and so this enabled me to be able to make this model. Thanks Bob.

My pleasure Pete, much nicer here than sitting in a box.

Really great Pete: before the wall came down saw some of these types accross no mans land on border patrols. Some of their vehicles had pressed card panels on the cabs with varnish to keep the rain off ! cracking work again Pete
