North Yorkshire's Yellow Machines.
This picture shows a model of the City of York Fire Brigades 1962 Commer KC40/Russell walk thru van (reg-5001DN) which were first introduced in 1961.This vehicle was originally delivered in red livery but re-liveried in yellow when the brigade adopted this colour for their appliances. The vehicle was used as a Salvage Tender.
The Bedford RLHZ (Green Goddess) 4x4 Emergency Pump (reg-PGW288) was an ex-AFS appliance re-liveried and also at one time stationed at York Fire Station. This may have been as a spare/reserve appliance, and was actually around 1974 tranferred to Lythe Fire Station north of Whitby. An ideal operational 4X4 appliance for the rugged moor's of North Yorkshire.
The diecast models are in 1.76 scale with the Commer made by the Dutch firm efsi, and the Bedford converted from the Corgi Trackside Green Goddess.
Special thanks go to Paul Warnock for his assistance in data/photo's/information in reference to the City of York Fire Brigade.
